The LIMES Institute is looking for a

PhD candidate (m/f/d) 65 %

to start from December 2025 or later initially limited to 3 years according to § 2 (1) WissZeitVG.

The research group of Prof Mihai Netea investigates the mechanisms of the reversal of immune tolerance in the context of sepsis with ultimate to goal to improve patient treatment. In this project in particular we investigate the role of LXR signaling using human samples, cell lines and mouse models. The project is in a close collaboration with the University of Münster.

Your tasks:

  • conducting ex vivo and in vitro experiments using molecular biology and immunology techniques,
  • basic and multiomics data analysis,
  • development and optimization of experimental protocols,
  • generation and validation of scientific hypothesis,
  • writing scientific texts,
  • support for research and teaching activities in the field of immunology,
  • active participation in seminar, lab meetings, scientific conferences, workshops.

Your profile:

  • Master degree in Immunology, Molecular Biology, Bioinformatics or related field,
  • knowledge of molecular biology and immunology techniques, bioinformatic skills,
  • good communication in English,
  • motivated, flexible, team-oriented and interested in further training.
